“On the Road again………..”

"On the Road Again....."The past weekend was busy to say the least but its an honor to share God’s Word and love on people. Last week, on Wednesday, August 26, I preached at First Baptist Church of Accokeek in Maryland www.FBCOA.org and on Thursday morning, I was a guest on air LIVE on WWGB 1030 AM Radio in Washington, DC. On Friday, August 28, I spoke to nearly 1,000 people at a Prayer Conference in Alexandria, Virginia at 8 PM. The place came unglued and gave God a standing ovation! It is always a treat when the Lord shows up and shows off! Go God!

The very next morning, I had a 9 AM flight out of Baltimore to Houston, Texas where I had the high honor to preach two services at Harvest Point Church in Nacogdoches, TX. Dr. Rick Scarborough is the senior pastor and also founder of “VISION AMERICA.” Pastor Rick is a powerful preacher and patriot. He loves God & Country almost as much as anyone I know. It was my honor to meet Dr Scarborough back in March at Bailey Smith’s Evangelism Conference in North Carolina and he was one of the speakers along with SBC President - Dr Johnny Hunt, Evangelist Junior Hill and Bob Smith. Pastor Rick is a nationally known preacher and he flies to CO this week to be a guest on Dr James Dobson’s “FOCUS ON THE FAMILY.”

Please pray for me this weekend as I drive four hours on Friday, September 4 and speak four times in three days at a Christian Singles Retreat in beautiful Jummonville, Pennsylvania. My prayer is to exalt Christ, encourage Christians and remind singles the key is to not “find Mr or Miss Right” but becoming the “right” person in the process.

The following weekend, Sat September 12, I will catch a plane and fly to Greenville, SC and preach a three service, two day revival at Double Springs Baptist Church in Townville, SC. On Monday, September 14, I have been invited to be a guest for an hour on NITELINE TV in Greenville, SC and we will tape Monday afternoon. I am tentatively invited to leave from there and drive 2.5 hours to Atlanta, GA that same evening and be a guest on “ATLANTA LIVE” - WATC 57. This would be my second time on ATLANTA LIVE and the guest confirmed that same night already is Will Graham (Dr. Billy Graham’s grandson). How cool would that be. Only to drive back to Greenville, SC that night at midnight and fly back to Washington, DC first thing in the morning. I was invited to preach at a Pastors Conference in St Louis, MO on Friday, September 18-19 but that got cancelled. Rest is good.

Will post another blog soon but in the interim, please pray for strength and stamina as I study the Scriptures this week and desire to be a blessing while on the mountain in PA this weekend. If you are anywhere in the area we would love to see you and remember God doesn’t just use the blessed but broken. How do I know? I am both. Remember, Jesus loves you! God bless you and go with God.

It was my pleasure to preach at a “CASTING CROWNS” concert in 2005, in Manassas, Virginia at a large church. It was a Youth Evangelism Rally and Duffy Robbins and I, were the two invited guests and I had the pleasure to preach both Friday night at the CC Concert and Saturday morning on the main stage for discipleship. One of the joys before and after the Casting Crowns show was to hang out with Andy Williams - former drummer to Grammy/Dove & recently named “Group of the Year” - Casting Crowns.

He is POWERFUL on stage but super personable off stage. We had a blast talking in the tunnel prior to the show and it was wild eating in the “Green Room” with lead singer, Mark Hall, Andy Williams and the band prior to the concert. We had two hours to kill before the doors opened and ironically an indoor basketball court was adjacent to the auditorium. Someone suggested we play a pick up game of basketball. Since I was the speaker they graciously invited me to play hoops with them. It will remain one of the wildest memories that I will hold dear for life being able to play 3 on 3 with Casting Crowns.

The good news is it was a ton of fun. The bad news was I was wearing jeans and dress shoes while playing. Its hard to do a finger roll or hit a three pointer without tennis shoes but it was a blast none the less. About two months ago on my radio show “FRANKLY SPEAKING” I had the pleasure to re-connect with Andy and he was a “call in” guest and talked about his recent transition from CC to start a new group with his wife and a few friends called SOUL SISTER SALLY.

Friends, you talk about faith - he left the security, stability and stage of Casting Crowns to start a new group “by faith.” What is super cool is that Andy heard God say “go” so he was gone. You have to check out their website www.SoulSisterSally.com and you can hear their NEW single “Destined to Survive” below - IT IS AMAZING and you can hear it here first.

That radio interview will be released on a future blog post here soon. In the interim, enjoy the recent video that we taped in June 2009, while I was in town preaching in Georgia at two churches. Andy and his lovely bride and son were gracious to hang out with me and grab lunch. They are INCREDIBLE and please share some love and give them a SHOUT OUT and let them know you wish them well as they follow God’s call. If you are a pastor or youth leader - PRAY about bringing them to your church in near future. You will not be dissapointed.

“Georgia on my Mind” - MEMORIAL DAY

Patriotism, Prayer & Pride

Patriotism, Prayer & Pride

Tonight, I have the privilege to address nearly 1,000 adults and teens at the baccalaureate of Grace Brethren Christian School in Clinton, MD. These are always exciting times and a rite of passage for many graduating from the formative years to “for real.”

My four month old son, Andrew Lincoln has taught me some powerful life lessons recently. His focus on his Bottle is second to none. He is like a laser, an arrow to its target, white on rice, a man on a mission when it comes to focusing on his formula (bottle). Nothing or no one matters at that moment. As I prepare to speak tonight I am reminding the graduates that we must focus (not on the bottle) but the Bible like never before. Someone wrote to her son going off to college: “Baby, this Book (Bible) will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from this Book.” We need to major like never before on God’s Word. Our focus needs to be in the Word not world. Our gaze on God, sights set on the Savior and be looking for the Lord’s appearing because Arnold was not the first to say: “I’ll Be Back!”

Secondly, I have a 7 AM flight tomorrow to the Peach State (Great State of Georgia) and will speak twice on Sunday to two different churches. A Baptist church in the morning and a Pentecostal church in evening in that sweet southern state. Any place, with sweet tea, southern hospitality and Cracker-Barell is home away from home for me. Thirdly, my dear Aunt Georgia Shelton, was admitted this week to the hospital for chest pains and we initially thought she had a heart attack. Between my preaching this weekend in Georgia and my Aunt Georgia; hence, the title for this post: “Georgia on my mind.” On Monday, we celebrate “Memorial Day” and a special salute to all those whom and continue to fight for our freedom and safeguard our shores. Liberty is not FREE and I am reminded of this great thought in closing.

“It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion. It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the VETERAN, not the politician, Who has given us the right to vote. Sadly, often times it is the VETERAN that still salutes the flag when most at sporting events are “Missing In Action” when it comes to respect and reverance.”

This weekend, pause and pray for our recent graduates around the Globe that they will walk and work for God’s glory. Pray for my Aunt Georiga and all those ill during these dark, difficult days with health issues. Please pray for our Nation that we continue to chase the Commandments of Christ because it is a fact; we will no longer be Home of the Brave if we lack in faith and use our freedom for selfish gains. Last but not least, thank a VETERAN and most importantly, praise God for “whom ALL blessings flow.” Our Liberty is because of the Lord and because He lives - we can too! God bless you and God bless America.
